Code of Conduct - Parent - November 2018

Bondurant Soccer Club Parent Code of Conduct

I agree to live up to my role as a parent of a player for the Bondurant Soccer Club by following the Club’s Code of Conduct as follows:

  1. I understand that referee abuse is a serious offense and will not be tolerated.
  2. I will remember that all of the players, coaches, parents, and referees are human. There will be mistakes made and I will be sure to remember that the game is for children and not adults and will react correctly for the various situations.
  3. I understand that yelling at a referee or a coach during a game at any time is not allowed. Positive cheering for players is allowed and encouraged. I will display sportsmanlike behavior on/off the field, whether it is on the internet, over phone/text, in the stands, or in any possible way.
  4. I will treat each player as an individual, remember there are a large range of emotional and physical development difference within the same age group.
  5. I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for the players including keeping the grounds as good as or better than I found them. This means that I will pick up my trash and clean up after my pet.
  6. I will do my best to have my player attend every practice and to participate in everything going on while knowing that all players have different talents and weaknesses, the same as I do. I understand that if my player does not attend at least 50% of the practices they may not play as much in the game as those that show up for the practices.
  7. .
  8. I will be a part of a sports environment for the team that is free of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco (including vaping and e-cigs) and will refrain from their use at any practice or event that I am at.
  9. I will be mindful to learn the rules of the level of soccer that my child plays at and will learn from the coaches, referees, and soccer board members. If I have questions, they can be directed to the Coach, BSC Director of Referees, or other BSC soccer board member at an appropriate time.

Bondurant Soccer Board procedures for dealing with violations of the Code of Conduct

Any reports from referees, opposing coaches, players, or parents regarding violations of the BSC Code of Conduct officially filed with the Board will be handled as follows:

  1. The BSC Board subcommittee, at its discretion, may recommend that a coach, parent, or player be suspended from participation in league activities while the Board investigates and contemplates any action.
  2. The BSC Board subcommittee will verify details of the complaint, including interviewing the person or persons who have made the complaint, as well as any witnesses who may have observed the incident.
  3. The BSC Board will send an email to the coach involved, asking for his/her version of the incident. The coach/player/parent will have 7 days to respond in writing to the Board.
  4. The BSC Board will meet within 14 days to determine if disciplinary action should be taken.
  5. If the allegation is determined to be correct, the BSC Board subcommittee may recommend that the coach/parent/player be subject to immediate suspension. The BSC Board subcommittee will submit its recommendation to the BSC Board of Directors for approval. If the suspension is approved by the Board, the coach/parent/player will be notified verbally and in writing of the Board’s decision. Based on the nature and severity of the offense, and depending on whether this represents a repeat offense, disciplinary actions may range from:
  • Official warning / clarification of expected conduct
  • Partial season suspension (1-3 games)
  • Suspension for the remainder of the fall and/or spring season
  • One year suspension
  • Permanent ban from Bondurant Soccer Club events
